Q)
Which is the best way to make coffee?
A) The way that suits you best. The simplest
way (apart from a single cup filter) is a jug and strainer
or cafetiere (sometimes called a French Press), especially
for small quantities that are to be consumed straight away.
If
the coffee needs to be made in advance & kept warm,
e.g. for a dinner party, then a filter machine and hotplate
is a good idea. Hot freshly made coffee can be kept for
several hours in a vacuum flask, as long as you warm it
first and make sure it is absolutely full. This is because
coffee oxidises, so all air must be excluded.
Espresso
is made by steam pressure, & is usually drunk to give
a shot of caffeine. Turkish coffee is extremely strong,
& an acquired taste, but is probably the nearest to
the way that coffee was originally enjoyed. It is sometimes
called "Coffee Arab".
